Leucadendron sessile seeds
A short dense shrub
growing to a height of no more than five feet. When young the
involucral leaves are yellow but turn red in older plants. Flowers
in Spring. A particularly attractive leucadendron. £3.50
Leucadendron tinctum seeds
Grows to 1.3m shrub with
sessile oblong leaves. The involucral (flower) is yellow in winter
and produces spicy cones. This is a favoured garden plant. in South

Leucospermum cordifolium seeds
One
of the best leucospermums, bearing dome shaped flower heads up to 10
cm across each bearing many curious tubular styles. The colour can
vary from pinkish yellow to orange. £3.50
Leucospermum muirii
Grows to 1.5m shrub, with narrow leaves. Quite rare. Small yellow
flowers are borne singly or in groups between Winter and Spring.
Leucospermum oleifolium
Grows to 1m shrub. In summer has clustered flower-heads, bright
yellow changing to crimson. Requires moist sandy acid soil.

Leucospermum reflexum
(Rocket
pincushion) the remarkable feature of this pincushion is the way in
which the flower s reflex as they grow old. The buds unfold into a
rounded pinchushion of tubular flowers. The foliage is grey and
consist of small neat leaves pointing upwards. £3.50

Grows to a 3.5m bush.
Flowers in Autumn and Winter are cup-shaped and have long pink
involucral bracts with ciliate margins. Ideal cut flower and very

Protea cynaroides (King
Protea)
The King Protea is the
national flower of South Africa and is arguably the most spectacular
flower in the world. Flowers heads can be up to 30 cm across but 15
cm is more usual. Cultivars may differ in the colouration of the
bracts, silvery pink, deep clear pink and sometimes a deep crimson
are found. In the wild it can grow up to 2m across but it responds
well to pruning.£3.50
Protea eximia
Duchess protea considered to be one the most beautiful protea. It is
grown quite commonly in gardens in South Africa. It has large rich
red rose to pink flowers. The head itself measure about five inches
across at the widest part. The whole bush will eventually grow from
1.3 to 2 m in height and spread. £3.50

Protea grandiceps
(Princess Protea) this grows to a
large shrub four or five feet across although it can be kept smaller
by judicious pruning. It has one of the most glorious flowers
in the protea family; each coloured bract varying from a peach or
salmon to a deep coral red which is edged with a fringe of long
silky brown to reddish brown and white hairs. The flowers can
be up to 12 cm in length.
Protea magnifica
Queen Protea)Magnificent in the size of the flower head, which can measure
from six to eight, inches across. The colour of the flower is a soft
pink, occasionally a deep rose or strong red. The centre of
the flower head is filled with a mass of white hairs, which taper,
into a black velvety centre. It is one of the most coveted of
proteas for flower arrangers and is most effective in floral
displays. The leaves are up to 15 cm long and over 2 cm wide, edged
with hairs. The bush itself grows slowly to about 1.3 to 1.6 m
across.
Protea nana
Grows to
1.3m, densely branched and compact. Beautiful wine-red pendulous
flowers from winter to spring. Fast grower - expect
germination from 25 days. The Mountain Rose or Schaamblom is a real
gem; the little bowl-shaped flowers droop gracefully from the tips
of pine like shoots and are borne in spring and early summer .
