King Protea  (Protea cynaroides)
This is one of the most popular of Protea having one of the largest flower heads in the protea family up to 12 inches across. Protea cynaroides or the King Protea is also the national flower of South Africa

Protea eximia
Duchess protea

Considered to be one the most beautiful protea. It is grown quite commonly in gardens in South Africa. It has large rich red rose to pink flowers. The head itself measure about five inches across at the widest part. The whole bush will eventually grow from 1.3 to 2 m in height and spread.

Protea grandiceps

Princess protea

Although not commonly grown this is a most beautiful protea with flowers quite large, up to 16 cm in length and 10 cm in width. They are usually a striking red pink in colour with white snowy fringes. They grow eventually to about 1.5 m in height.

Protea venus

A recent introduction this stunning Protea is a cross between p. repens x aristata hybrid with deep red flowers from late winter to summer, suitable as a cut flower. The plant is robust and quite vigorous (to 1.5m) requiring pruning after flowering.

Telopea

Telopea speciosissima was proclaimed the official floral emblem of New South Wales Australia  in 1962. Robert Brown (1773-1858) named the genus Telopea in 1810 from specimens collected in the Blue Mountains, west of Sydney, Australia. The Telopea is an evergreen shrub with one best cut flowers of the Proteaceae family. Deep green serrated leaves compliment large red doomed flowers. £9.95
